Welcome to Magnolia, Arkansas 

Magnolia was founded in 1853 and was incorporated in 1858. Soon thereafter the city developed as an agricultural community as well as a regional cotton market. During 1938 a major discovery was made. One of the most expansive oil fields of the day was revealed.  Magnolia is Columbia County’s seat and is located near its geographic center.

 The timber industry is an important part of the Columbia County economy. It is anchored by Deltic Timber to the west, on Highway 82, and Weyerhaeuser to the south on Highway 19. The soil, moisture and climate here support properties that are valuable for timberland investment properties, recreational land, hunting land and farm land. Timber grows well in South Arkansas, making it one of the best areas for investments in rural properties anywhere. It is not hard to find land for sale in Arkansas that suits even the most discriminating buyer.

Magnolia is situated in the pine and hardwood forests of South Arkansas.  Magnolia trees surround the historic courthouse and can be found all across town.  Beautiful murals, which depict the early days of Columbia County, can be found painted on the exterior walls of several downtown businesses. The county also has within its boundaries Logoly State Park.  Lake Columbia, which was built as a water supply for the city, offers great fishing and boating for all.

Southern Arkansas University can be found on the North side of Magnolia. It is a great addition to the city and provides many local jobs.  The Magnolia Blossom Festival is held on the square during May of each year. The culmination of this festival is the crowning of The World Champion Steak Griller. This is a prestigious honor that attracts cookers from all across the nation.
